FFG just released a new operational game on the battle for La Coruna Road, Jan 3-16, 1937. The battle was the last phase of a much larger Nationalist offensive to isolate and cutoff Madrid.
In the game, the Nationalists troops enter and begin to sweep northwards to their objectives. It is not until the last 4-5 turns that the Republicans seriously oppose with Russian T-26B tanks, SB-2 bombers, I-16 fighters, and International brigades. Opposing these are German Panzer I and Italian CV-33 tanks
Both sides claimed victory for differing reasons. The Republicans did halt and prevented the Nationalists from cutting off Madrid. The Nationalists did advance and seized most of La Coruna road.
